Germania SIU Specialist position open for applications/interviews. Applicant must have at least 2 years SIU experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision, conducts extensive and detailed investigations of all classes of casualty and property claims identified with suspicious indicators.
Investigates all assigned claims through direct contact with claimants, insureds, law enforcement, professional vendors and experts, attorneys, and others.
Independently concludes investigations in adherence to Germania Claims Best Practices. Claims are to be completed in accordance with provisions pursuant to the Texas Insurance Code and within all time limits prescribed by the Unfair Claim Settlements Practices Act and the Texas Department of Insurance.
Proactively provides support to claims partners which may include data mining, analyzing claims information and claims consultation/training on claims and investigations leading to increased awareness of suspicious claims. Training support provided may also include training and developing less experienced SIU Claim Specialist(s).
Evaluates and negotiates fair settlements on meritorious claims, through tactful application of human relationship skills, based on investigation, exposure, experience and judgment within personal authority. Prepares recommendations for settlement of claims exceeding personal authority.
When claims are deemed to be non-meritorious, sends detailed denial letters to all parties and reports made to Texas Department of Insurance within 30 days of claim investigation completion.
Actively participates in Special Investigative Unit (SIU) associations, seminars and training opportunities, stays abreast of current fraud trends and patterns, and utilizes NICB as a resource.
Reports to Specialist Unit Manager on all files involving coverage questions, reinsurance involvement, claims exceeding authority, and claims involving complaints. Responsibilities include expense control, quality claim service, compliance with company procedures and all fair claims acts regulations.
Performs other related duties as directed.
1.Must have current Texas P & C Adjuster’s license.
2.Must have extensive knowledge of property and casualty coverages and be well versed in legal concepts involving policy interpretation.
3.Must have extensive knowledge of fraud detection techniques, fraud investigations, legal principles, evaluation/negotiation/settlement techniques for property and casualty claims.
4.Must have good written and oral communication skills. Must be able to handle difficult people on the telephone and in person. Must be a good listener and communicate accurately and succinctly.
5.Must have the ability to organize, plan and adapt easily to changes in the workload.
6.Must have knowledge of reinsurance principles and contracts.
7.Must be able to identify subrogation potential when applicable.

10.Must possess PC skills and have the ability to learn claims management systems and other related claims software applications.
11.Must be willing to continue claims education by learning new policy coverages/provisions and claims handling procedures and techniques.
12.Valid Texas driver’s license
13.Minimum of 4 years of SIU property and/or casualty adjusting.
14.College degree preferred
15.Frequent travel required.
